Black Dog White Dog
by Tris
In Black Dog White Dog each comic strip is built around one English
idiom
or
proverb,
so as you read, you can remember the more
colourful
side of the English language.
Dogs can be dangerous. When they are sleeping, you should not wake them up. You might
get bitten!
There are some situations where you should not say or do anything because if you do something, it could result in trouble. For example, when you have an argument with someone and then they say "OK, I will send you a link to an article that supports my argument", but they never send you the link. You could remind them to send it to you, but that might start the argument again, so you think: "it's better to let sleeping dogs lie".

You are at work with your
colleagues.
Your boss is also in the office, and he is walking around making sure that everybody is doing what they should be doing. Everybody is quietly working.
Suddenly your boss gets a phone call and he has to leave the office for a couple of hours.
As soon as he has gone, you and all of your colleagues buy some doughnuts, make some coffee and have a nice relaxing long break. You chat, laugh and generally have a good time. Nobody does any work.
This is the kind of behaviour described in the proverb: "When the cat's away, the mice will play."
